Crashing in VS2010 and VS2012

In VS2010 I do the following
  • choose the "Merge Changesets" menu
  • de-select all that are checked
  • change the target path from the current branch to the target branch
  • sort by story id
  • select the story whose changeset(s) i desire to merge
  • click the merge button
  • resolve conflicts if any
At this point VS2010 crashes. Upon relaunch I see that the merge has succeeded and all I need to do is to commit.

In VS2012 I do the same actions but the changeset(s) are not actually merged so I don't even have an opportunity to commit the changes.

Help please.

I'm trying to build so that I can debug but I keep getting the following error message...

Error 1 The type or namespace name 'TeamFoundation' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft.VisualStudio' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

I'm obviously missing something... All of the references say that they are resolving and there are no red squigglies under the type names but there is no resolution.

I'm thinking that Visual Studio might be recognizing its own instances of those DLLs but they aren't included in the build path and either I need to reference them or install something else so that those DLLs are in the GAC. Assuming I need to install something, what do I need to install?

I have the same issue in vs 2012 - when trying to merge - nothing happens.

It may be coused by the ancense of an IDEPath definition in TOOLS->OPTIONS->TFS Productivity Tools->IDEPath
I added validation.
